Our Membership Covenant

REDEMPTION STORY CHURCH | MEMBERSHIP COVENANT

As believers in Jesus Christ, we have been adopted into God’s family and given new identities as His children. While our spiritual family extends through time and includes brothers and sisters around the world, God has also given us the good gift of the local church to be a part of here and now. The local church is a group of believers living life together under the good authority of Jesus Christ and on mission to make disciples while continually growing in maturity themselves. Being part of this local church is voluntary - a joy and privilege we are invited into for our good and God’s glory. As Redemption Story Church, we long to be a family that lives out the Biblical example of the church, knowing we will do so imperfectly because we are sinful, broken people living in a fallen world. To that end, we sincerely and joyfully commit to being members of Redemption Story Church in hopes that God will make His name great in our community and among us.

As leaders of Redemption Story Church, holding the Scriptures as the highest source of truth and wisdom, we commit to:

  • Be faithful and joyful members of Redemption Story Church, participating fully in the life of the church.

  • Submit to God’s loving discipline by recognizing, confessing, and repenting of our sin to both God and others.

  • Seek God’s will for our church through study of the Scriptures, prayer, and leading of the Holy Spirit.

  • Steward the church’s resources faithfully.

  • Lovingly and humbly shepherd and care for the people of Redemption Story Church with grace and diligence.

As a member of Redemption Story Church, holding the Scriptures as the highest source of truth and wisdom, I commit to:

  • Faithfully practice Bible reading, prayer, community, the “one anothers”, and other spiritual disciplines.

  • Submit to God’s loving discipline by recognizing, confessing, and repenting of my sin to both God and others.

  • Faithfully and joyfully participate fully in the life of the church.

  • Steward faithfully the resources God has given me (time, treasure, and talent).

  • Honor God with my body in all purity as an act of worship.

  • Strive for love, unity, and peace within the church family.

  • Share the good news of Jesus with non-believers.

Knowing that we are all sinners and in need of help to fight sin, when a brother or sister is walking in rebellion and unrepentant sin, we commit to:

  • Follow the instructions outlined in Scripture for confronting one another in love and grace.

  • Faithfully and humbly point one another to the truth of the gospel and the commands of God.

  • Strive and hope for repentance and reconciliation.

  • Submit to shepherding by church leaders.
